Friday Meeting
After flag break we had a game of tug-of-war with some of the scouters on each patrol’s team, followed by learning about some of the harmless and dangerous snakes found in South Africa. Gryffen then led us in an identification game where we had to identify the footprints of different animals as an introduction to the trail game where we had to first identify what is “normal” or “natural” in the area before identifying what is unusual. This trail led us to a first aid situation where we had to assist Igor (who played the role of someone who took substances at a party) and follow first aid protocol. We then went on to identifying the different footprints of the scouters that were present this evening and figure out what happened in a scenario based off of the footprints we had earlier identified. This was followed by closing parade ending off scouts for tonight. Enjoy the rest of your evening Odin.

Friday Meeting
We started off this evening with a game where we used seamanship terms for directions (port, stern, etc.), followed by everyone learning how to correctly get in and out of a canoe. Afterwards we did some sailing theory by learning the names and meanings of some of the flags that we most commonly use at the dam as well as how to man the sails on a dabbie. We then practiced the 6 basic knots and closed off the evening. have a lovely evening Odin

Alumni Seamanship Camp
The Scouts and one visiting cub attended. Two Alumni members – Laurence Kruger, and Barend Craven also camped at Kosmos. The aim was to impart important Seamanship skills to the kids. Everyone got to sail and row, and learn theoretical skills and to practice them. From the feedback I got, it was a great success. Thanks Laurence, and Barnard for giving up your time to reunite with us and for your support. We were given practical demonstrations, with hands-on training about boat repair and the proper use of fiber-glass on kayaks. The Jetty was repaired and painted.
We look forward to more visits from our Alumni, in the next year.
